Hanukkah is magic.

Eight nights of gathering with friends and family, eating delicious deep-fried foods and exchanging gifts by sparkling candlelight. Pure joy.

As a mom of two young children, I wanted my love of the holiday on full display in our home. And so, every year around the holidays, I would find myself meandering through my favorite stores, searching, hoping to find something special for Hanukkah. Amidst aisles and aisles of dazzling, beautiful Christmas everything, the token Hanukkah display felt so utterly joyless and the products like afterthoughts — dreidels slapped onto paper plates, menorah prints on throw pillows.

Yet the Christmas stuff was so undeniably magical. And those advent calendars got me every time. I would stand there, wandering off dreamily, imagining myself opening the little doors and finding a miniature surprise. How insanely fun that would be. Then, snapped out of my goyish fantasy, I’d feel a pinch in my heart, let out a sign and keep walking.

Except one day that pinch sparked an idea. Why not create a Hanukkah version of an advent calendar! The eight-night celebration lends itself perfectly to multiple compartments, each with its own surprise. I couldn’t find an eight-compartment anything, so instead I bought two treasure boxes — one for each of my kids — and filled them with special treats. Every night I would refill the boxes and my kids would nearly leap out of their skin with excitement. Or maybe that was me. Surely we were not the only family that would enjoy this experience — the nightly thrill of seeing what's inside.

And so, GeltPop was born.

Our mission is to create gifts that surprise and delight children (and grownups!) - novelties that make each night feel even more exciting, more fun, and uniquely Hanukkah. And our 8-Night Hanukkah Surprise Box bundles them all together in one delightful package.
